We are sooow lucky at the moment, because it's almost the end of October and the weather still feels amazing!
It's about 14 to 16 degrees, which is high for this time of year and it feels so good. Not sure where it'll be next month, but I'm not complaining today. The outside scenery is changing, the leaves are golden brown and beautiful different tones of red. It's autumn and slowly the trees are losing their leaves.
It's a good style season, because it's not too cold and we're able to wear anything we like without layering up looking like mille feuille pastry.
Personally, I love autumn. I love that I'm be able to wear my cosy knit's, my new knee high boots (Paul Warmer :) paired with jeans or black wool stockings and a buttoned down skirt. Which is a great fall go-to-look. It's feminine, but still laid-back and easy to wear. Last week I wrote a blog post about 'implementing a green lifestyle' and how I actively challenge myself to do better one purchase at a time. For example, before I get a new pair of boots, I must give one up in exchange. This, to remind myself of all the items I already have, items that I need or simply just want to add.
There's a limit to what I need and I know, I do not need that much. I love investing in key pieces, but for every new piece I'll have to give one up. The ones I'll give up on, are most likely pieces that I've not worn very often, because they turned out to be an impulse buy, or the fit just isn't exactly what it should be or pieces I just don't wear anymore. I can assure you, there are still many key pieces that I won't give up! Simply, because I adore them and there're part of my daily style.
A new piece that I'm looking into this fall is a button down floral maxi dress. Why? because I feel like I'm in a stage of my life where I would like to wear a few more feminine items on a regular base and not just on the weekends. A maxi dress, because it's feminine and dressed up, but in a laid-back kind of way. Preferably a long sleeved dress or one that pairs well with a chunky knit sweater. Buttons for a Parisian vintage feel and a cotton or chiffon floral print to make it look and feel light on the eyes and skin.
A few weeks ago, when I was visiting my bf in Amsterdam, I had the opportunity to do some window-shopping in the city to see what's out there on the high street for this fall season. A few shops have surprised me with their very on point collections for this fall. I saw some gorgeous floral maxi dresses with an accurate romantic vintage feel to them. Timeless, front button down and an all over vintage floral print.
I didn't buy any of them, I did try them one, but thought it was best to just go home and see what I can give up in return in advance. After a few pro's and con's debate in my head, I came up with the following nominee. The dress I'm giving up on is this low V-neck. It's beautiful, but I've never worn it and it's basically just collecting dust in my closet. So, if anybody feels like this would be a good fit, send me a dm or visit my sellers account on United Wardrobe.
Well then, I've had my eyes on this gorgeous midi floral chiffon dress by Stradivarius, it's sold out online, but I've got a feeling that it'll be back soon as it's part of this fall/winter collection.
I'm planning on styling it is with my latest purchase, a Wonderfull pair of Paul warmer western inspired knee high boots. Which I've purchased and in exchange sold a pair of boots. To wear it more then once, but in a different way, I'll wear a chunky knit or cardigan over if necessary. For jewellery, a fine necklace with a coin pendant and another fine necklace choker style. A filter hat for winter is also not a bad idea. Will be launching a few good styles online soon.
I've picked a few high street brands that are also on point this season with their vintage inspired dresses for you to choose from.
So, that's that. feel free to like, comment or share your thoughts on what dress fits your style best. Have a wonderful day :)
