Faux Future

Do you remember when faux fur was not hot? It was about 15 years ago, when we used to
think that there was only one type of fur, namely the real deal.

Luckily over the years, our views have changed and real fur is becoming more and more
something of the past. Nowadays, faux fur is hot!

As times have past, there has been a lot of positive change in the fashion industry. For instants fashion now, is for everybody. Meaning, we're all able to create a beautiful wardrobe without having to break the bank and we can find fashion almost everywhere.

There are of course the high end designer brands, the vintage boutiques, the designer brand resellers and of course the high street stores and brands. They basically sell the same clothing items and it's not necessarily the type of fabric that's different, but the amount of tailoring that when into a garment that makes the difference. But no matter which brand or boutique you choose, one thing they all have in common is, that they all want to go (or already are) green.

A big win in the fashion industry in the last decade is the use of animal friendly fabrics such as organic cotton and faux fur. Slowly we are moving away from the idea that real fur is a sign of luxury and the only way to go. Faux fur is actually in high demand, because we the consumers are becoming more environmentally conscious about the way we live and care about our planet. Also, one can't deny that faux fur now it looks and feels amazing. There is a wide variety to choose from and we're loving it.

In the end, it's a personal choice, but doesn't it feel great to know that no animals were harmed for the fur on our backs? It's a good change and I think that faux fur is only going to evolve looking better, the prices are lower than the real deal and in time definitely worth the investment. If you're looking at buying a faux fur, I think there're a few things to take in consideration if you want to invest in a sustainable purchase.

Length
It's nice if the length of a coat complements your height. For example, I think that long length coats are more flattering on tall people, as short and medium lengths look great on average height and petite people. That said, the most important thing is, that you should wear whatever it is that you love and keeps you warm. If you're living in a country where the winters are ice old and a coat serves as an armour. Then a long length coat works great for everyone. If you're most likely to wear yours in fall, then a medium or waist length is much more practical as it's not too hot and easy to wear.

Color
Are you a colourful and bubbly personality and does your personality match your sense of style. Then an animal print or a colorful fur is perfect for you. If you're more laid-back and like to wear demure or natural colours. Then you'll feel more suited with (mixed) brown, black and occasionally a deep dark green or a cream coloured fur.

Style
Are you a seasonal shopper or do you like to invest in the classics? A seasonal shopper doesn't mind to buy a new fur next years fall/winter season to match her current style. If you love to invest and love to wear the same fur over and over for years to come. Then a classic style is more likely to suit you. One that isn't on trend, but a timeless piece that's versatile and easy to style each fall/winter season to come.

Once you've figured out which way to go, it's only a matter of styling to create the ultimate look of luxury. Personally, I love timeless pieces and I love to invest in items that I can wear many years to come. One of my favourite looks for winter is, a faux fur coat, wide calf boots, preferably cognac brown with a chunky heel. A fitted cardigan and a pair of blue jeans. It's so easy to style and has a seventies Bohemian vibe without feeling over dressed. It's perfect for everyday wear. I can pair it with low cuban heeled ankle boots for day-time and switch to knee-high boots for an evening out.

I've picked a few of my favourite styles to share and I would love to know which one ticks your boxes.

So, feel free to comment, like or share your views on the best faux fur!
