Personally, I love to fall in love with a new piece of clothing before making a purchase.
I need to feel that ‘aaawh yesss, I want you’ and ‘I need you in my closet, now!’ moment. Simply, because I just love a good style moment and I also happen to love that feeling of excitement ( It might be the same science of attraction as when we fall in love with a person :). These moments and feelings are the start of beautiful Style Stories.
A successful Style Story can be told more then once and in many different ways. It all comes down to being creative and playful with your looks. A good Style Story, for me, is told more then once. Preferably at least five times, I love to make the most out of it. Therefor I aim to add new pieces to my wardrobe that are timeless and reflect my overall personal style. My personal style is mostly black, romantic feminine silhouettes. I love folklore and a few good clean cut basics that help create many inspiring new looks.

It is easy to say that I am not a fan of fast fashion trends and I don’t have a ‘let’s throw old clothes in the bin’ mindset. No, I want most of the pieces to last a lifetime. Or, at least until I don’t fit in to them anymore. This means I have to invest in good basic pieces that are durable and last longer. Pieces that are specially made to have a long(er) lifespan. These are mostly made of fabrics that have durability and made resistent to wear.
To be able to create these type of garments designers need to make use of high quality fabrics, threads or skins to work with. Such as natural high quality fabrics like cotton, linnen, canvas, tight woven wool and leather. These fabrics have proven to keep of high quality over time, keeps from fading and can last for years when taken good care of. Also taking good care of what you already have in your closet is a big part of why certain items last a lifetime and can be worn decades from now. High quality leads to durability and sustainability.
Now, more and more brands are rejecting the idea of fast-fashion and investing in honest high quality fabrics. Brands that have solely build their company on the principles of sustainability, creativity and quality are already a step ahead. Their mission is to create clothes that are more durable and sustainable without loosing their appeal. Which in the end will make us consumers choose well, buy less and live more simply. I think it’s a beautiful mindset to take care not only of yourself, but the world around you and I appreciate brands that inspire and invest in a brighter future for all of us.
