'V' Is For Vintage

Second best sometimes is the best! At least for us Vintage Fashionistas who love a good treasure hunt. We love to find ‘that one’, not a man, but a hidden gem from someone else’s closet.

A good Vintage store can simulate this feeling. It feels as if you are taking a walk in a closet from decades ago. A closet that breathes old Hollywood glamour, Disco glitter or sleak, androgynous silhouettes like 70s style icon being Bianca Jagger.
The best looks usually tend to be a mix of something new, something Vintage. My love for Vintage began very early as I was just around the age of ten years old. Growing up watching old movies in a time where movie stars from the 50s where still talked about. Music from the 60s and 70s still being played on the radio and big hair was my parents the go-to look on a nights out. I was at home playing dress up with my moms psychedelic printed dresses from the 60s, amazing knee-high platform shoes from the 70s and Glitter dresses from the 80s. I just love, love, loved these styles. I loved the bold silhouettes, colourful prints and feminine flair. They were a lust for the eyes then and still are to this day. Even if it’s Vintage, it never gets old.
A good Vintage piece can last and be worn decades to from now. How you style it, is completely up to you. For example a Vintage puff sleeve top, a hyper feminine style originally from the Victorian era x 80s, mixed with your cropped jeans is oh so stylish! It’s simple, sexy and very feminine. The rule is, there are no rules. You can mix different era’s and style them however you feel like. The same goes as with other styles, just keep it simple and don’t over do. Or do, if you have the fierceness to match. For example mix bold silhouette tops with plain bottoms or vibrantly coloured pieces with plain basics. This will make one item stand out while complementing the other. Mixing Vintage with your contemporary style will create stunning Style Stories.
