If someone was to ask, what your first pair of designer jeans was. I think, the right answer would probably be a pair of Levi’s.
If you were born in the eighties like me, you know that Levi’s Strauss & Co were King in the nineties. When I was 15, I started my first after school job as a store clerk on the weekends. Some teens were working to buy the latest video games and some like me, were working to pay for all the nice fashionable extra’s I wished to have and longed for. It was a beautiful privileged position that I was living. Having only to look out for myself and being able to enjoy these wonderful years. It was all about school, hanging out with friends at the schoolyard. Wanting to look cool and edgy while doing and Levi’s definitely had this image of being cool and though.
From miners workwear to cool distressed jeans for teens to Luxury Brand wear. For over a century they have managed to stay relevant and true to their identity. It’s amazing to see what they have established, becoming part of American History as a Cult Phenomenon and known worldwide. They have history, a clear purpose and most important a connection with their customers.
If you’re familiar with Levi’s then you must have heard about Re/Done. Just for your information, Re/Done is not a fashion company.
In their own words “Re/Done is a movement. A movement to restore individuality to the luxury fashion space, a movement to keep heritage brands relevant, and a movement to create sustainable fashion”
What they do is, they give authentic Vintage Levi’s denim jeans a new (or should we say extended) run. They take a pair apart at the seams and sew them in the modernised cut of your choice in your measurements. Not only makes this each pair unique, it’s also an great way of repurposing and reusing clothes. It’s Authentic, Vintage and Sustainable.
I think it’s an amazing concept, a Vintage pair of Levi’s already has a story to tell and they add new one to it. Here are some of my favourite styles from Re/Done.
